Rebecca Ayabie, popularly known as Ayabecca, has much to celebrate as her song “Soyaiya” clinched the Best Indigenous Song award at the prestigious 2023 Golden Stars Award, held in Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria.
The song, a beautiful Hausa love ballad, was composed by Ayabecca and recorded by Northern Nigerian artist Spokegizzy, who also performed the track.
Ayabecca, reflecting on the song’s journey, expressed her immense gratitude to the talented team that contributed to the song’s success.
“Soyaiya” was born from her desire to create a captivating Hausa love song that resonates with audiences. To bring this vision to life, Ayabecca brought together a team of exceptional writers, sound engineers, and producers, ensuring the project was nothing short of extraordinary.
“I wanted to craft a song that was both meaningful and melodious, something that would touch hearts,” Ayabecca shared.
“But I knew that to make it truly special, I needed the right team behind me. Though I own the song, it wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible contributions of everyone involved.”
Ayabecca extended her heartfelt thanks to the lyricists who brought depth and emotion to the song, including Blessing Simon aka Bmelemu, Odeba Alexander aka SaintOdeba, Victoria Chidinma Israel aka Chidiivick, Elizabeth Eze aka Ellizzee, Munachi chukwudi Onyeukwu aka Munaachucks, and George Joshua Aka Spokegizzy.
Their collaborative effort, combined with Ayabecca’s original composition, created a powerful and evocative piece that captivated listeners and earned critical acclaim.
The technical finesse of the song was brought to life by sound engineers and producers Martin Okechukwu aka Okemasky and Boniface Ugim Ayabie aka B4uMatrix, whose expertise ensured that the final product was polished and sonically pleasing.
In addition to the creative team, Ayabecca expressed her gratitude to the executive producers who played pivotal roles in the project’s success.
UK-based artist Carl Chinegwu, known as Rudebone, served as the Executive Producer, while fellow UK-based artist Biggy Khali used his platform, Ameboloaded, to manage the promotion and strategic direction of the project as the Assistant Executive Producer.
“The recognition ‘Soyaiya’ has received is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved. I am beyond grateful for the support and collaboration that made this dream a reality,” Ayabecca said.
As Ayabecca continues to make her mark in the music industry, “Soyaiya” stands as a shining example of what can be achieved through passion, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence.
